Claude can now read your bank accounts. US and paid plans only

On November 5, 2026, Anthropic launched Personal Finance in Claude. You link your bank, cards, loans and investments, see balances and spending on one page, and ask Claude about your own money in plain words. Most headlines say Claude can now analyze your spending. They leave out that Claude Personal Finance is US-only, paid plans only, and read-only. We checked Anthropic's announcement and help center. Here is who gets it, how to set it up, and what it can see.
Who gets Claude Personal Finance
It's a beta for Pro, Max and Ultra subscribers in the United States. It is not available on the Free, Team or Enterprise plans, and not outside the US. Anthropic is rolling it out slowly on the web, the desktop app, iOS and Android, so if you qualify and don't see it yet, it may still be on its way.
It reads, it can't move money
Anthropic's help center is clear: "Personal Finance can only read your accounts. It can't move, manage, or invest your money." It also isn't built to give investment advice. It can tell you where your money went; it won't place a trade or pay a bill.
Step 1: link your bank with Plaid
Plaid is a service that connects apps to banks. You sign in to your bank inside Plaid, so Claude never sees your bank password.
- Open Personal Finance in the sidebar (or under More), then choose Get started.
- Set your goals or skip that step, then Continue.
- Choose Link accounts with Plaid, then Continue.
- In Plaid, pick your bank, sign in and choose which accounts to share. Add another account or choose Done.
Step 2: ask about your money
Chat inside Personal Finance in plain words. A good first question:
Where did my money go this month?
Claude can also point out duplicate fees, upcoming bills and subscriptions you may have forgotten. Check anything it flags against your statement before acting on it.
Other questions that work well: "How much did I spend on food delivery in the last three months?", "Which subscriptions renewed this month?", or "What bills are due before the 15th?" Keep each question about one thing. Claude answers from the transactions it can read, so a question about an account you didn't link will get a partial answer.
What Claude can see
- Up to two years of transactions from checking, credit card and savings accounts.
- For loans and investments, only balances and limits, not your individual holdings.
On privacy, Anthropic says chats inside the Personal Finance hub are not used to train its models. Chats outside the hub follow your normal privacy settings, so ask money questions inside the hub. Anthropic also says there are no ads or affiliate products inside the tool.
How to unlink your bank
Open the ··· menu in Personal Finance, choose Manage linked accounts, then Unlink. On iOS and Android it's under the gear icon. You can also remove the connection from Plaid's own portal at my.plaid.com.
Personal Finance, in one look
- Link: Get started, then Plaid.
- Ask: "Where did my money go?"
- Unlink: Manage linked accounts, then Unlink.
