Claude makes explainers on the free plan
One prompt, no extra tools. And two limits.
Checked against Anthropic's help center

Why it matters
No video model. Just code
Claude writes code that moves text and shapes. It plays like a short video.
- Who gets it. Every plan, Free included. Artifacts work in any chat.
- What it can't do. Realistic footage or people. Shapes, text and charts only.
Prompt · the explainer
Paste this into any chat
Open Claude, start a new chat and change the topic in brackets:
Make a 20-second animated explainer as an artifact about how [your topic] works. Draw it on a canvas: 4 short scenes, one line of text each, simple shapes, smooth transitions, dark background, one accent color. Add Play and Restart buttons.
Prompt · what you get
It plays right in the chat
An artifact opens next to the chat and runs the animation.
Example · what you get
4 scenes with text and moving shapes
Play and Restart buttons
- Change one thing. Ask in the same chat, like "slower scene 2". Results vary.
The fine print
Two limits
From Anthropic's help center, Oct 30, 2026.
- No MP4 button. MP4 export is in Claude Motion, a beta for Team and Enterprise.
- No MP3 upload. Audio isn't on Claude's list of supported files.
- To post it. Screen-record the artifact while it plays.

Prompt, play, record
Three steps, on the free plan.
- Paste the prompt. Any chat, your topic in brackets.
- Fix one scene. Ask for the change in the same chat.
- Screen-record it. That's your video file.
