Claude Code: 6 features you're not using

Not a new model. A new app.

The viral "Claude 2.0" is Claude Code's desktop app: the Code tab in the Claude app on your computer.

• Who gets it. Paid plans: Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise.
• What's new. The redesign came in April. Projects joined on Sept 17, in beta.

Ask without derailing it

Claude is mid-task and you have a question. Press Ctrl + ; (Cmd + ; on a Mac), or type /btw.

• It reads the whole chat. Everything in the main chat up to that point.
• It adds nothing back. Your question stays out of the main task.
• It isn't saved. Close the app and it's gone. Copy what you need.

Two chats, one screen

Hold Alt (Option on a Mac) and click a chat in the sidebar.

• Or right-click it. Open in, then Split view.
• To close one. Ctrl + Alt + W. On a Mac: Cmd + Ctrl + W.

One chat runs the others

You describe the work. Claude starts a thread for each task and tells you which.

• Coordinator. The main chat. It hands out tasks and checks results.
• Threads. One per task. Open any one to steer it.

Keeps going with your laptop closed

Threads usually run in the cloud and share one project memory, so they keep working after you close your laptop.

• Start one. Sidebar, Projects (or under More), New project.
• Watch your limits. New projects run every thread on Opus at high effort. That uses your plan fastest.

Find the skills you never use

Type /skill-doctor. You see what each skill costs and how often it runs.

• Why bother. Skills take up room in Claude's working memory.
• Then. Turn off the ones it flags as never used.

A checkup for old instructions

Type /doctor prompt-audit. Claude checks your CLAUDE.md and skills for outdated or conflicting instructions.

• Plain /doctor. Checks your setup instead. It asks before it changes anything.
• When. After a new model comes out.

Cheaper model, expert backup

Type /advisor opus. A second model gives advice at key moments in a task.

• For example. Work in Sonnet, and Opus weighs in on the hard calls.
• To stop it. Type /advisor off.

Don't see it? Here's why

• Update the app. Older versions don't have these commands.
• Projects is in beta. Pro and Max only, rolling out. Check under More, or join the waitlist.
• Team or Enterprise. No Projects there yet.
